We’re in the middle of the AI revolution. 🤖 A common question is - "Will AI take our jobs?" Change in the LCNC space feels unprecedented, and it is. It’s faster than previous generations but the principles are the same.
The real challenge is our mindset.
Are we ready to adapt and upskill?
From being on the tools to steering the ship and the outcomes.
Not everyone will, and that's a reality. The speed of change is going to be too fast for most people to keep up with.
But for a few of us who choose to, we’ll be upskilling and staying on the bleeding edge. A wild ride for sure.
I’ve got 2 main thoughts today.
IT’S NOT ABOUT THE TOOL, BUT THE TASK.
Developers, at their core, solve problems. While AI can streamline coding, critical thinking and problem-solving remain a distinctly human endeavour. Working out what business problems to solve in an organisation and how it aligns with overall goals.
Low-code platforms might enable broader audiences to engage with technology, but the core task of understanding and meeting business needs? That still needs the human touch.
ENABLEMENT OVER REPLACEMENT.
AI isn't a job snatcher. Instead, it's an enabler. Yes, it will take jobs but that has happened for thousands of years wherever technology advanced.
Consider digital cameras; they made capturing moments easier but didn't diminish the essence of creating memories. Or consider the tools that help in automating mundane tasks, giving professionals more time to focus on value-added activities.
AI is here to stay, and so are we. By upskilling, adapting, and embracing these changes, we'll not only ensure our professional relevance but also spearhead the next phase of digital transformation.
Join the conversation and share your thoughts.
What do you think we most need to upskill on?
