I'm Mark Smith, Principal AI Strategist and Co-Founder at Cloverbase, a boutique Microsoft consulting firm based in Whangārei Heads, New Zealand.

Background

I've been a Microsoft MVP since 2012 (AI Platform) and a Microsoft Certified Trainer. Together with my partner Meg Smith, I run Cloverbase, helping organisations adopt AI with clear strategy, practical structure, and measurable outcomes.

I co-authored "Microsoft 365 Copilot Adoption" published by Microsoft Press, and host the Microsoft Innovation Podcast with over 800 episodes.

What I believe

AI is a tool, not magic and not a threat. I believe in skill over knowledge: equipping people to build applied, practical AI capability through hands-on practice. No hype, no fear. Just grounded, honest work that creates real outcomes.
