If your mentor works for your employer, they're not working for you.
They're probably helping you set goals and take development opportunities that align with the company's direction.
That's not to say there's no overlap between what you want and what they want for you.
But if you haven't taken the time to define what success means to you, you'll likely be put on a path for 'success' according to someone else.
If you get clear on where you want to go, then you can ask for the support you need.
And chances are that mentor will be able to help you get there.
How has defining your version of success changed the guidance you seek from mentors?
