Balance Between Educating Citizen Developers

I’d like your input.

The balance with Citizen Developers can be hard.

Allowing them to contribute effectively without compromising the quality and functionality of applications.

There’s tension because there’s a need for:

↳ Citizen developers to create helpful apps
↳ Education and governance to manage the potential influx of apps created by citizen developers
↳ Professional development practices and processes to maintain quality

I’d put these into 2 categories.

Educational and Governance.

Education
The role of education becomes pivotal in ensuring that Citizen Developers are equipped as best possible. This not only enhances their ability to create innovative and useful apps but also ensures that the apps adhere to the quality and functionality standards.

Governance
On the flip side, governance is crucial to manage and regulate the development environment. It's about establishing a framework that guides Citizen Developers through the app development process, ensuring that the apps are secure, compliant, and aligned with the organizational goals.

How do we create the best balance between education and governance to foster a conducive environment for Citizen Developers? 🤔

How much emphasis should be placed on education to ensure developers are well-equipped with the necessary skills?

And to what extent should governance be enforced to ensure that the development does not go haywire?
